It's time to gear up...High School Graduation is just around the corner. I love designing Graduation Slideshows, each child is different from the next. Music taste varies, one will like country, the next loves rap; their personalities shine through in both the photos and the music they choose.
Fun! Did I say I love what I do and the only word to describe it is FUN. I have the opportunity to meet families throughout the country and they share one of their most treasured items with me - their photographs.
When the photos arrive I usually take a couple of hours sorting through them, each photo gives me a glimpse of the person I am dealing with.
There are the "hams", you can spot them right away, they are the child with the ear-to-ear grin in every photograph. Rarely do you see anything but a smile on the face of the "ham". Usually the "ham" is a very outgoing child, the biggest dilemma for a parent of the "ham" is that they have so many photos they don't know where to start! I myself was a "ham" growing up, some might say I still am.
There is the artistic child. This child was on their way to being the next Picasso at a very young age. When sorting through their photos I always notice a crayon or paint brush in hand. The artist sometimes beats to a different drum, you can tell as they are growing that being different than the rest of the crowd never bothered them. My favorite photos of the aspiring artist are the different styles of dress. Striped tights with the checkered dress at the age of five, they have already managed to develop their own dress code. Using an the aspiring artist artwork as a backdrop for their slideshow is always fun.
The "athlete". Initial baby shots might include this young tot wearing a team jersey with a baseball cap on their head...eighteen years later they are still wearing a jersey and hat! There are all types of athletes; whether it's wrestling or tennis, the sport is their first love. Music is always fun with the athlete, of course a slideshow would not be complete without using Queen's, "We Are the Champions."
The "scholar". This child was teaching others and helping others before they were out of diapers. I love the "scholar", always eager to learn and teach others what they have learned.
The "baby" of the family. You can tell everyone dotes on the "baby" of the family; Mom, Dad and of course the older siblings. There is usually an abundance of photographs of the "baby"...you can't help but notice how the other family members are all smiles when they are with the "baby".
The "musician". Whether they are in the marching band or a garage band the "musician" also beats to their own drum. They are team players, in order to be in a band you have to rely on others. The "musician" always knows exactly what music they want to accompany their
slideshow.
We are all different that what makes each slide show unique. So, as I gear up to start designing graduation slideshow I can't help but wonder who I will be blessed to meet this year. Yes, I love what I do for a living, it's fun.
